KiiLN is a Winner of the 2015 SBA Growth Accelerator Fund Competition

Announcement was made at the first-ever White House Demo Day

New York City, NY. August 4th, 2015: KiiLN has been selected a winner among hundreds of entries for this year’s Growth Accelerator Fund Competition, awarded by the US Small Business Administration (SBA). The awards were announced on August 4th, 2015 at the first-ever White House Demo Day. President Barack Obama hosted this event to highlight the contributions made by innovators to the nation’s economy, with a focus on inclusive entrepreneurship.

Through the Growth Accelerator Fund, the SBA will support the development of business accelerators that help aid in the growth of startup companies. As an award recipient, KiiLN will apply these funds to jump-start its mission of promoting the success of early stage biotechnology companies. KiiLN will also develop a virtual incubator to help young companies through the first steps of forming a business and attracting funding. Dr. Ilse Daehn, co-founder of KiiLN stated, “the KiiLN team is committed to promote entrepreneurial strength in diversity by connecting budding scientist-entrepreneurs to a network of experts in the biotech startup arena.”

KiiLN has partnered with Cambridge BioLabs to provide acceleration programs for the resident companies of New York BioLabs, a premier co-working space for biotech companies in need of dedicated labs, equipment and a collaborative community. Dr. Nicole McKnight, KiiLN co-founder and Director of NYBioLabs said, “together KiiLN and Cambridge BioLabs will lower the barriers to entry for life science entrepreneurs in the New York area.”
